Meet Alex

Greetings! My name is Alexander/Alex/Al. Below you'll find some general information about myself, but I'm happy to answer any additional questions you may have! Please visit the contact page for details about how to get in touch with me.

Education

In 2010 I graduated from the University of Florida (a CACREP-accredited program) with both an Education Specialist degree and a Master of Education degree in the field of marriage and family therapy. While attending graduate school I completed my practicum and internship on the child and adolescent inpatient behavioral health unit at Shands @ Vista in Gainesville, FL. I spent a considerable portion of my time conducting individual and family therapy sessions, but also engaged in group therapy and community outreach through one of the local high schools.

Experience

I have had a number of different therapeutic roles in a number of different states since graduation. I served as a mobile crisis counselor, outpatient therapist, and inpatient admissions clinician while living in North Carolina and as a consulting behavioral health clinician at a medical facility in Virginia. Once the dust settled from our move to Wisconsin, I decided that I wanted to return to an outpatient setting so that I could hopefully have a more impactful presence within my community.

Licenses

Until June 30th 2022, I was licensed in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and in Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I was granted my Licensed Professional Counselor status in Wisconsin in March of 2022 and, after careful consideration, decided not to renew my NC and VA licenses so that I could focus on my surrounding community.

Personal

Originally from Florida, I have lived in Oconomowoc since June 2021 and have sworn to my wife that I'm never moving again. We've been together since 2008 and have one very rambunctious daughter and two old, slow dogs. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies, cooking, playing games (both board and video), doodling, and a litany of other activities. I try to be a pretty open book with people, so please feel free to ask me any questions you may have!
